CFP: Absence in Theatre & Performance, Special Issue
The STR New Researchers' Network invites papers for a special edition of Theatre Notebook focused on the theme of "absence." Lockdowns imposed to stop the spread of COVID19 are forcing scholars to engage with absence in all of its various forms. Performances have been cancelled, archives are closed, families are separated and a ‘new normal’ has emerged. In these strange times, as scholars are forced to reconsider both the impact and value of absences as creative stimuli, the NRN seek papers that discuss, evaluate, and engage with absences, or gaps, in Theatre and Performance research. Deadline: 8 March, 2021.
CFP: Revisiting Revenge Workshop
Ghent University invites case studies exploring the ways in which European revenge plays participate in contemporary political, religious, philosophical, legal, economic and gender discourses, in order to make clear the genre’s broader cultural relevance – both in terms of its historical moment and of our analysis of that moment.
